The choir welcomes applications from competent singers with sight-reading ability and a clear voice. New members will be invited to join a rehearsal at the beginning of a term followed by a short voice test with the conductor; a place in the choir is dependent on the outcome of this.
The choir rehearses on Monday evenings from 6.30 – 8.30pm and members need to be committed to attending the rehearsals. Rehearsal and concert patterns generally follow the University year – rehearsals begin in late September and continue to the middle of June with several weeks’ break for Christmas and Easter. Rehearsals take place in the Armstrong Building of Newcastle University – usually in the King’s Hall but occasionally in a nearby room if the Hall is unavailable. The entrance to the King’s Hall is on Queen Victoria Road opposite the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
Full details about the choir for current and new members, including current subscription levels, can be found under the Members tab.
